Frequently Asked Questions

What is ADP

The Assistive Devices Program is operated under by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care funded by OHIP. It provides financial assistance to Ontario residents with long term physical disabilities for assistive devices essential for independent living, such as prosthetic devices, wheelchairs, walkers, and of course, orthotic devices!

Will My Orthotics Be Covered?

Any custom orthotics required by a doctor that is higher than the ankles (ie not foot orthotics or custom inserts) will have 75% coverage under OHIP, or 100% coverage if you are receiving ODSP or ACSD via ADP application. For custom foot orthotics, your coverage will vary based on your insurance company. Consult your insurance agent or plan to find out your coverage amount.

Are there any charges for adjustments?

Adjustments to orthotic devices under warranty are free of charge. Please contact us for a quote for adjustments to devices out of warranty.

Do I Need A Referral

No, but it is highly recommended that all of our patients consult a doctor or physiotherapist to confirm their orthotic needs.

Do I Need A Prescription?

You do not require a prescription for a consultation with Kinetic Potential, but you will likely need a prescription for insurance coverage.

Can I transfer from another clinic to Kinetic Potential?

As an Ontario resident you are free to go to whichever approved ADP vendor you wish, regardless of where your doctor or therapist says you need to go. Please ensure that you are eligible for funding with ADP prior to transferring to Kinetic Potential. Contact your ADP representative or look online to check your eligibility.

What if I miss my appointment or need to reschedule?

Life happens. You will not be charged for your first missed appointment. However a $50 charge will be billed to your account for every subsequent appointment that was not cancelled or rebooked with at least 24 hours notice.

Do I Need To Bring My Own Shoes?

We highly recommend bringing in your own shoes so you can try on your new devices before going home!

What if the orthotics aren’t comfortable?

ADP requires that all approved vendors provide 3 month warranty for fit. The professionals at Kinetic Potential will ensure your devices are comfortable and fitting well by easing, flaring and padding your devices, even if your approved warranty period for fit has passed.

Are there any age restrictions to come to Kinetic Potential?

The professionals at Kinetic Potential have over 10 years of experience with patients of all ages. Whether you are 6 months old or 102, if you have the need for an orthotic device we are here to help.

Who will benefit most from foot orthotics?

Patients with flat feet/pes planus, excessive pronation, excessive supination, plantarfasciitis, pes cavus/high arches, pes equinus, metatarsalgia, patellar femoral syndrome, other mild knee pain due to alignment issues.

What materials are used for the devices?
